07. Chris Beat Cancer, attitude is everything!
This episode is a continuation of my conversation with Chris Wark, a.k.a. Chris Beat Cancer.
Chris was diagnosed with stage 3c colon cancer at 26 years old.
Chris had surgery to remove the tumor and it was then advised that he have a year of chemotherapy.Chris decided to take a different path to healing. He changed his diet; he changed his attitude and eighteen years later HE IS THRIVING!
Chris has a very informative list of questions that every cancer patient should download before they meet with their oncologist. In fact, I wish I would have had this list before my first meeting with my oncologist.
I’m grateful that I can pass along this information to you!

04. EMFs: Health Impact & Usable Tips to Manage Exposure
Today's guest is Ben Salem, founder of Wave Block.
Ben has been in the real estate world his entire career, and it was out of necessity that he created his product.
He told me that he bought an EMF mentor to check his baby's room for radiation. He was shocked when he discovered how much radiation was around the crib. So he did some research and learned how to create a baby blanket that would deflect the waves.
He then used that tech to create his product, WaveBlock.
Necessity is indeed the mother of invention!
There are native EMFs (electromagnetic frequencies) that come from the sun or earth, and then there are non-native, which come from cell phones, earbuds, and electric blankets, to name just a few.
Many countries are now banning or limiting Wi-Fi in nurseries in an effort to protect children. A child's skull is ten times thinner than an adult skull.
When I bought my first home in the early 90s, there was much talk about not living under powerlines due to EMFs. What's the answer? Are non-native EMFs dangerous? If other countries are starting to limit exposure in children, should we look at doing that here? What can we do to try to limit our EMF exposure while still enjoying our devices?

03. Loneliness is the Enemy of Cancer Treatment — Mentorship Can Help You Cross the Finish Line
In this episode, I have a wonderful conversation with Jonny Imerman, founder of Imerman Angels.
During my treatment, I was surrounded by people, but I felt alone. I was blessed to have a loving family and friends to bring me meals or take me to doctor appointments, but I still felt alone.
The social worker at the hospital suggested I reach out to Imerman Angels and ask for a mentor.I was paired with Liza in Chicago who had already “crossed the finish line” with her breast cancer treatment. She encouraged me to do the same. I felt “heard” when I talked to her about my fears and concerns.
Being “heard” is one of the paths out of loneliness.
I hope you enjoy this episode where Jonny shares his heart for people.

02. The Role Fears Plays in Cancer & How to Get Out of Fear-Based Thinking in SECONDS!
I’ve known Jamie and his wonderful wife, Donna, for years. They know how to help someone get out of fear-based thinking fast!
In my younger days, I let fear run my life. I made so many important life decisions. I was scared, including getting married right when I graduated college because I didn’t think I could “make it” on my own - ugh!
Fast forward to getting diagnosed with cancer, and I started to feel that fear creeping back into my life. I had to take back control. I wish I had this podcast episode with Jamie to listen to a year ago - his simple tips would have gotten me out of fear quickly - but at the end of the day, it’s up to me to stay out of fear.

01. Intro & Welcome
Why did I start this podcast? Because I wanted to find out if there was any way I could have prevented breast cancer.
Look, I know that crappy things happen to people :) But as a certified nutritionist and health coach, I had a natural curiosity to figure out the WHY behind why I got cancer.
This episode is a quick intro about what you can expect on my podcast and a bit about my journey.

Why Did I Get Cancer? Trailer
Friday Sep 03, 2021
Friday Sep 03, 2021
I'm Deborah Herlax Enos.
I'm a small-town girl turned TV nutritionist and healthy living expert. I design health programs for the average guy or gal.
I did the best I could to take care of myself while helping others take care of themselves.
Fast forward to September 1st, 2020: as if anything else could go wrong in 2020, I had a bad mammogram and then a bad biopsy.
Then the doctor called to tell me I had breast cancer.
I asked every doctor and medical technician the same question, "Why did I get cancer?" But, unfortunately, none of my doctors had answers for me.
I just kept asking questions, reading research, and figuring out how not to get cancer again. I began to realize that there might have been a few other things I could have done to prevent cancer. I knew I couldn't keep this information just for myself and my friends.
This podcast is for anyone who:
Wants to prevent cancer
Has had cancer and doesn't want it to come back
Loves someone who's in the cancer battle
Why Did I Get Cancer includes:
Interviews with experts
Interviews with other cancer survivors
Resources for navigating the murky waters of cancer treatment
Discussions on practicing self-care during cancer
Techniques and products I used during my cancer treatment
And much more!
Why Did I Get Cancer launches mid-September!
